GLEN MATLOCK

Glen Matlock is an English musician and the original bassist for the punk rock band Sex Pistols. He was introduced to guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook while working at Let It Rock, the precursor to SEX, Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood’s clothing store in London.
He is credited as a composer on 10 of the 12 songs on the Sex Pistols’ only album, Never Mind The Bollocks.
Matlock left the band in late February 1977. After leaving the Sex Pistols, Matlock formed the band Rich Kids, on which he was bassist and singer, with Midge Ure, Steve New, and Rusty Egan. They released three singles and an album titled Ghosts Of Princes in Towers.

At that time, Matlock and New were also playing with Sid Vicious and Rat Scabies in the short-lived band The Vicious White Kids, as part of a charity concert organized in London to help Sid pay for his travel expenses to return to the United States.

In November 2006, the Sex Pistols were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In April 2022, Matlock was invited to join legendary New York band Blondie on their UK and US tours. Matlock remains a permanent member of the band.

In late 2022, Matlock signed a new worldwide solo recording contract with Cooking Vinyl, which saw the label release Glen’s long-awaited, timely, and politically relevant new solo album, Consequences, in 2023.
